To be endorsed is an honor, however the greatest honor is representing the Beauty and Barber industry in my journey to the Georgia State Senate. Having the opportunity to represent Beauty and Barber Professionals, no matter our personal political affiliations, gives my industry leverage to initiate positive change in legislation nationwide.
I have been using my voice for years encouraging professionals to take full, political responsibility for the beauty and barber industry. Whether we like it or not, each of us are responsible for the state and fate of this industry. I have a personal, professional and a moral obligation to do all that I can. I believe in this industry and that is why I founded The Concerned Beauty Professionals and Politics Beauty. We needed a higher level of continuing education and a voice in legislation.
As I venture deeper into the political world, I am hopeful that those of you who understand the importance of protecting and leading in this industry will step up and help us navigate for generations to come. Our industry has real problems. Licensing requirements are being lowered, in some cases eliminated. More and more people are coming into this industry that are less and less prepared to address the health and safety of their customers. Seasoned professionals are making less money, taking on second jobs or leaving the industry all together.
Professionals have decisions to make and work to do. The Concerned Beauty Professionals and Politics Beauty needs your help to do it. Meetings are held twice a month, via conference call and annually at our annual Beauty and Barber Industry Day. Our next conference is scheduled for Feb 5 - 6, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Beauty and Barber Professionals, take your rightful place as leaders in this industry and let's work to elevate our profession to the "next level".
